FAQs

  • If I am an NDIS Participant and I would like some counselling or life skills mentoring, what do I need to have on my Plan?

This is easy, if you have an NDIS plan which includes ‘Improved Daily Living’, capacity building. This covers all fees for individual counselling sessions or life skills mentoring so there’s no cost to you.

  • If I don’t have ‘Improved Daily Living’ on my current Plan?

You can set up a meeting to discuss this with your NDIS LAC or Coordinator before your next Plan Review meeting is set up. They will discuss your new goals to include counselling or developing life skills to assist you to live a more independent life.

  • I am unable to attend appointments away from my home, would you visit me at home?

Yes, many participants are unable to leave their home for many reasons - Appointments can be held in COVID Safe locations such as your home, and in appropriate community settings such as local parks or locations that suit you.

Depending how far I need to travel I may need to charge a travel fee.

Another option is attending sessions via Zoom or Facetime if you are in isolation or live too far to attend in person. I would like to discuss this with you along with other information about the services that I can provide.

  • I haven't had a counselling or mentoring session before, how can I benefit from attending counselling or mentoring sessions?

Counsellors are trained professionals who help you explore and work through issues or difficulties that are impacting your life.

They can support you in areas such as establishing pathways to change your employment or career; also transitioning through life change situations; coping with stress, depression and anxiety as well as building your capacity for resilience.

A Counsellor can also work with you to adjust your unwanted feelings or deal with conflict situations; develop personal and workplace communication skills; and to learn techniques for increased independence and wellbeing. These sessions are confidential and held in a private setting.

As a Mentor I will work with you to develop life skills to enable you to achieve your personal and work related goals. These skills can range from communicating effectively, problem solving, managing money and a budget, prioritizing your time, setting goals and developing plans, building confidence and self-esteem, and setting boundaries.

  • Does Impact Career Counselling & Personal Development also provide services to clients who are not NDIS Participants?

Yes services are available to all clients from High School age students through to those preparing for retirement, NDIS Participants and Non - NDIS.
